The Section of Periodontics has a wide range of activities covering all aspects of periodontics, bone regeneration and surgical implant procedures. Research is a core activity of the section with many contributions that have developed new surgical techniques for bone regeneration around teeth, alveolar bone and dental implants. As well as this, there are ongoing research projects focused on the role of bacterial adhesion in the development of periodontal disease and studies in the genetic and molecular basis for periodontal regeneration.
