- Predoctoral Program
The mission of the faculty and staff of the Section of Pediatric Dentistry is to improve the health of the people of California by educating residents, students, and practitioners about the physical and mental growth of children and the art and science of pediatric dentistry. This mission is accomplished/fulfilled by researching the causes, prevention, and treatment of dental diseases and craniofacial abnormalities in the infant, child, and adolescent patient and by providing service to our patients and to the community at large. The predoctoral program teaches the basic behavioral and mechanical skills needed to treat healthy children in dental practice.

- Postdoctoral Program
The postdoctoral program educates graduate dentists to become specialists in pediatric dentistry capable of treating all children using various modalities of preventive, conservative, and surgical methods. For more information about the program, please refer to the residency program webpage.
The preceptorship program provides up to one year of seminars, lectures, and clinical observation in Pediatric Dentistry for graduates of foreign dental programs. For more information about the preceptorship program, please refer to the preceptorship pages of the website.
