Dr. Herman is a general dentist who has practiced in the San Fernando Valley since his graduation. He has been a faculty member at UCLA since 1996. His focus is on patient management and ethical and legal considerations for practice.

Research/Creative Activities/Honors

Dr. Herman is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the national dental honor society. His publications and lectures are in the area of practical dental ethics.

Patient Care Activities

Although Dr. Herman does not practice in the Faculty Group Practice, he does maintain a private general dentistry practice focusing on comprehensive care in Valley Village, California.

Courses Taught

Currently, Dr. Herman is Course Chair of Clinical Patient Management (CL403.29sabc and CL404sabc), a course given every quarter of the third and fourth years. He is also Course Chair of Regulation of Dental Practice (PH444s). Additionally, he provides courses in Continuing Dental Education related to dental ethics and dental employment.

Professional Memberships and Activities

Dr. Herman is a member and Past President of the San Fernando Valley Dental Society, and is a member of the California Dental Association and the American Dental Association. He currently serves as a Trustee for the California Dental Association, and is a member of the House of Delegates of the American Dental Association. He focuses on policy issues for both organizations, and is actively involved in dental education and workforce issues and access to care. Additionally, he is a member of Alpha Omega dental fraternity, the American Dental Education Association, and the International Dental Ethics and Law Society.
