Oral Biology Programs

The Division of Oral Biology and Medicine at the UCLA School of Dentistry offers graduate degree programs (MS and PhD) and a preceptorship program in Oral Biology, with specialization in the areas of cancer cell biology, bacterial and fungal pathogenesis, calcified tissue biology, developmental biology, immunology, neuroscience, pain research, pharmacology, and virology. The master's program is designed to provide dentists and oral health researchers with biomedical research experience and basic science knowledge, while the doctoral program is designed to prepare students for careers as independent research scientists in oral health research. The preceptorship program is a great opportunity for dentists who seek additional educational experiences or for dentists who seek an introductory overview to dental research.

Due to the need to take courses in a particular sequence, students are accepted for initial enrollment for fall quarter only.
