Reunion and Awards Luncheon
Our annual event was held in conjunction with the CDA Spring Scientific Session, on Saturday May 15 at the Anaheim Marriott Hotel.
A record 415 Alumni and Friends were in attendance to help honor Edmond R. Hewlett ’80, our Alumnus of the Year, and Dr. Hal Millstone, this year’s Honorary Alumnus of the Year.
William Morgan ’73 introduced our 2010-2012 President, Afsaneh Malaekeh ’93. And, following her introduction, Dr. Malaekeh presented Dr. Morgan with the Past President’s Award.
This year, we also honored the reunion classes of 1970, 1975, 1980, 1985, 1990, 1995, 2000 and 2005. More than 150 enthusiastic honored class members attended our event.

Remembering Ann Carver Beech
Carol Bibb ’78 took the group down memory lane as we viewed a slideshow that celebrated Ann’s life and her career at the UCLA School of Dentistry.
During the evening, Dean No-Hee Park hosted his annual reception. More than 700 guests joined the dean for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. The reception is the consistent hit of the CDA Spring Scientific Session’s social events.
This year, we danced to the music of the "38th Cav Recon Band." The band played a selection of 60s and 70s songs and the dance floor was packed from 7:30 pm until the event ended at 11:00.
Annual Silent Auction
The auction took place during the luncheon and reception. This year, we added many non-dental items. Bidders had a choice of 18 auction packages that ranged from dental equipment and materials to flying lessons and a weekend stays at several local hotels.
The auction raised more than $5,000 for the Alumni Fund. In addition to helping to cover the cost of alumni activities, the fund enables us to enhance the experiences of UCLA’s dental students.
