President's message
Emily Letran, DDS '93

Greetings Fellow Dentistry Bruins!
I am so honored to be back at the UCLA School of Dentistry to serve as your new Dental Alumni Association president. I remember vividly and with great fondness my experience at the School, and it is now very clear to me how important those four years were not only in shaping my career, but also my worldview. During those years, I learned the importance of dedication, hard work, having sound business principles and achieving excellent patient care.
The appreciation that I feel for my education and my experience at the School has compelled me to want to give back, and I would like to do so by helping to create an even more active and unified UCLA School of Dentistry alumni family.
Each of us has a unique UCLA School of Dentistry experience and yet there is still a common thread that ties us all together as Bruins. Whether we have a memory of working late in the third floor lab or getting a D.O. (“do over”) on our Fixed notebook, we share a foundational experience that unites us all. With our 50th anniversary just around the corner, I encourage you to reconnect or get more involved at the dental school.
You can mentor a student; become a volunteer faculty member; participate in continuing education courses; advocate for the school on local, state and national levels; and make a gift to the Apollonian Society to help enhance the dental school experience for students and our reputation for excellence.
It is our time to make the commitment reminiscent of our founders in guaranteeing the continuation and perpetuation of our school for future generations. I am asking for your time, your philanthropy and your service as we embark on our mission to make the future of our School the brightest in the nation.
Yours truly,
Emily Letran
