About the Board
The UCLA School of Dentistry’s Board of Counselors was established
by Dean James R. Hooley for the purpose of raising funds for the
creation of a dental outreach facility in Venice, California. Dean
Hooley’s vision became a reality with the establishment of the
Wilson-Jennings-Bloomfield UCLA Venice Dental Center.
Today, the Board functions as a non-governing body of advisors that provides invaluable counsel to the dean and service to the dental school in the form of philanthropic leadership. Board members serve for a minimum of one three-year term on a volunteer basis. Often active behind the scenes and with limited recognition, the various members of the Board of Counselors have played a major role in helping the School of Dentistry to carry out its mission in the past three decades.
