P

erry R. Klokkevold, D.D.S., M.S. is an associate professor in the Section of Periodontics in the Division of Associated Clinical Specialties at the UCLA School of Dentistry. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology and is currently the director of the postdoctoral specialty program in Periodontics at UCLA. Dr. Klokkevold previously served as director of the school's hospital dentistry and general practice residency program (1987-1992).

Dr. Klokkevold’s practice and postgraduate teaching activities are limited to the specialty of periodontics including the surgical aspects of dental implant therapy. Dr. Klokkevold has lectured on several periodontal and implant-related topics including periodontal medicine, risk assessment, bone augmentation and dental implant therapy at national and international meetings.

Research/Creative Activities/Honors

Dr. Klokkevold’s research interests are focused in the areas of periodontal and peri-implant bone regeneration. He has a particular interest in the effect of implant surfaces on bone formation and endosseous integration. Dr. Klokkevold has published numerous articles for international journals and written several book chapters on topics including juvenile periodontitis, periodontal medicine, and influence of systemic disease, bone regeneration and dental implants. He is currently the senior associate editor for the tenth edition of Clinical Periodontology.
