Welcome
Summer 2006
Dear Students, Alumni, Faculty and Staff, Nearly three months have passed since graduation and still I find it difficult to believe that we conferred degrees for the 39th time in the history of the UCLA School of Dentistry. Maybe that is because I keep seeing familiar faces in the hallways—so many of our wonderful students have already begun their residencies and postgraduate training programs here. In addition, we enjoyed the visit of a new group of Japanese dental exchange students this summer and welcomed twelve new people—international dentists seeking training and licensure in the United States—to the Class of 2008. I hope that this newsletter helps everyone—including alumni, visitors, and newcomers—feel connected to our School.

Dr. David Lee and Dr. Miki Nam Pledge $1 Million to the School
Dr. David Y. Lee, MD and Dr. Miki M. Nam, DDS have pledged the amount of $1,000,000 to the UCLA Foundation for the creation of the David and Miki Lee Endowment Fund for the benefit of the UCLA School of Dentistry’s academic programs. Dr. David Lee is a member of the School’s board of counselors and his wife, Dr. Miki Nam, received her DDS degree from UCLA in 1983.
