Dr. George Bernard was recently informed that he was chosen by the Washington University Dental Alumni Assocition for the honor of Distinguished Alumnus of the Year 2007.
Dr. Charles Bertolami, a former member of the faculty of the UCLA School of Dentistry and now Dean of the University of California San Francisco School of Dentistry, was installed as ADEA President-elect on March 21 at the 2007 ADEA Annual Session in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Some of Dr. James Crall's opinions on the subject of prevention of oral disease in children were gathered under the title "Changing the Shape of Pediatric Dentistry and published in the March 2007 issue of Doctor of Dentistry magazine.
Dr. Clarice Law served as on-set technical advisor to the cast of the hit TV show Ugly Betty in February. As fans of the show are aware, the sitcom's lead character, played by America Ferrera, wears braces.
Dr. Nancy Reifel completed the Los Angeles Marathon.
Dr. Richard G. Stevenson III obtained Board Certification in Operative Dentistry from the American Board of Operative Dentistry. Only 55 people in the world have obtained this certification and Dr. Stevenson is the first person at UCLA to do so. He passed a six-hour written exam on all aspects of dentistry, passed a clinical exam with five patient procedures, and passed an oral exam with two full-mouth rehabilitation case presentations. He was awarded the certification at a ceremony in Chicago at the Academy of Operative Dentistry Meeting.
Also, Dr. Stevenson was inducted as a member of the American Academy of Restorative Dentistry. The only other UCLA faculty members to ever receive this honor were Drs. Robert Wolcott and Herb Shillingburg, Jr.
