The Dean's Message
Dear Students, Faculty, Staff, Alumni and Friends,
The academic and fiscal year that was 2010-2011 has drawn to a close--and what a momentous year it was! The last few months have been especially busy in all corners of the school. I hope you all will find time in your schedules to read this summer newsletter and learn about the wonderful accomplishments of our students, faculty, staff, alumni and donors. It is my pleasure to have so much good news to share.
I should note that this past quarter was not merely an active, productive time for the school; it has been one of considerable change. We said goodbye to many longtime faculty and staff members this spring. Still other members of our community have changed their roles. I am confident, however, that the school is poised to weather these and many other changes, and to continue steadfastly on its course.
Our mission: to improve the oral health of the people of California, the nation and the world.
Nothing seems to sway this community from fulfilling our mission which is to improve human health by improving oral health. That is a message which I emphasized during the Staff Town Hall on June 30, 2011—no matter who you are at the school, what your role is, or what the state budget crisis may mean to the University of California in the coming months, so long as you always keep the mission foremost in your mind, success is guaranteed.
Thank you all for your efforts in fulfillment of the school's mission in 2010-2011.
