UCLA School of Dentistry Student Named Schweitzer Fellow
Ryann Walker, Class of 2014 at the School of Dentistry, was recently selected to be a Los Angeles Schweitzer Fellow for 2012-13, in the Albert Schweitzer Fellowship (ASF) program. Ryann will join approximately 240 other Schweitzer Fellows across the country in conceptualizing and carrying out service projects that address the social determinants of healthcare in underserved communities. Ryann will provide oral health education and dental care to people emerging from homelessness via her “Ticket to Smiles” program.
Upon completion of her Fellowship year, Ryann will become a “Schweitzer Fellow for Life” — and join a vibrant network of nearly 2,500 individuals who are skilled in, and committed to, addressing the health needs of underserved people throughout their careers as professionals.
