The Division of Oral Biology and Medicine is comprised of two Sections, Oral Biology and Oral Medicine & Orofacial Pain. We are a research-intensive Division within the UCLA School of Dentistry and also have significant teaching and patient care responsibilities in the predoctoral dental curriculum and the dental specialty programs.

As a Division, we are committed to providing the fundamental research training for graduate students interested in a career in oral health research and to broadening the scientific education of the UCLA dental student. The Division faculty is committed to exploring and developing new areas of dental and oral health-related research including bone biology and bioengineering, head and neck cancer, microbiology and immunology, oral medicine and orofacial pain. In addition, we are also involved in the extensive educational activities of the school which include courses for dental students, resident and international trainees.

As the home of the Oral Biology graduate program, offering both M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Oral Biology, our Division faculty offer the dental student the possibility of branching out into fields beyond general and specialized dental practice, including basic and clinical research, full and part-time teaching, and the ability to seek faculty positions within the growing number of dental schools nationwide.

Please review the Section pages for more information about our various teaching programs, our research, our patient care, and our public service.
