Admissions & Applying

Requirements for admission to the Orthodontics postgraduate training program for graduates of CODA accredited dental schools (U.S. or Canada) are the following:

  • Proof of your status as a US citizen, US permanent resident, Canadian citizen or your status as an H-1B visa holder, and your eligibility to work in the United States*

  • DDS/DMD from an ADA-accredited program

  • National Board Dental Examination, Part I (Official copies of scores must be emailed to:

  • Advanced Dental Admission Test (ADAT) score is not required but highly recommended

Application Process

  • Submit 2 PEFs through the Postdoctoral Application Support Service (PASS). Please visit the ADEA PASS webpage for more information.

  • Submit the UCLA Standard Residency Supplemental Application, CV, three recommendation letters, official undergraduate transcripts, and $100 application fee in check made payable to "U.C. Regents" directly to the Orthodontics Section:

Incomplete files will not be considered, including files of any applicant who fails to timely apply to the Oral Biology Master’s Program. All application information that is collected will be kept confidential.


PASS Application Deadline: September 1

UCLA Supplemental Application Deadline: September 1

UCLA Graduate Division Deadline: December 15

Financial Arrangement: B Salary; please note that postgraduates are required to pay tuition for the Oral Biology Master's Program. For more information about these fees, please refer to the UCLA Graduate Division fees page.

*Before the start of the program, residents must verify and provide proof of authorization to work and study in the United States. Failure to obtain or maintain all necessary visas, licenses, and permits and/or to maintain eligibility to work in the United States shall result in automatic suspension and may result in dismissal. Verification of the aforementioned must be received by June 1, 2017, for US citizens, US permanent residents, and H-1B visa holders, and by June 21, 2017, for those Canadian citizens applying for TN status, or acceptance may be withdrawn.
