Michelle OkamotoStepping in to serve alongside Drs. Ronald Mito and Dr. Mo Budak, the UCLA School of Dentistry welcomes our first-ever Apollonian Society Recent Graduate Co-Chair, Dr. Michelle Okamoto, Class of 2013. In this role, Dr. Okamoto will work to engage with alumni and especially recent graduates who are looking to stay connected with UCLA Dentistry and raise funds to support the next generation of student dentists.

Since graduation, Dr. Okamoto has remained involved with UCLA Dentistry by attending events through the UCLA Dentistry Alumni Association and the UCLA Bay Cities Alumni Chapter.  She is an Apollonian Society Member, and also serves as a guest speaker for an annual lecture on professionalism for the first year DDS students. She currently works as a general dentist in Torrance, Calif. alongside her father, Dr. Steve Okamoto, Class of 1984.

This past spring, Dr. Okamoto served as class captain for her fifth reunion at the UCLA Dentistry alumni reception in conjunction with the CDA Anaheim conference. Her enthusiasm for her alma mater and connection to her fellow alumni was evident in the turnout she helped to inspire, with her reunion year class as one of the largest in attendance.

“I graduated with the senior superlative, ‘Most Likely to Cheer You Up,’” says Dr. Okamoto, “and that remains to be my attitude whether it is during treatment with my patients, or around family or friends.” She hopes to bring that same energy to this new position, providing a vital link between the School and the community, encouraging alumni and friends to support the Apollonian Society and enhance the student experience. The School welcomes Dr. Okamoto to this new role and is confident she will continue to positively impact the student experience.
