Eric Sung Recognized for Achievements in Hospital Dentistry

Eric SungDr. Eric Sung, professor of clinical dentistry at the UCLA School of Dentistry, was recognized by the Special Care Dentistry Association with the Dr. Lawrence J. Chasko Distinguished Service Award. The award is given to a member who has had noteworthy achievements at a local, regional or national level.

Sung graduated from the UCLA School of Dentistry with the Class of 1990, which he followed with a postgraduate certificate in General Practice and Hospital Dentistry in 1992, also from UCLA. His research focuses on dental materials and treatment of the medically complex patients. Throughout his career, Sung has demonstrated a commitment to helping high-need patients and is considered the preeminent expert on treating complex dental cases in the greater Los Angeles area.

Sung also serves as the vice chair for the Division of Advanced Prosthodontics at the dental school and is the inaugural holder of the United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles Endowed Chair in Special Patient Care.

Earlier this year, Sung received a Distinguished Teaching Award for Senate Faculty.
