A Message of Support

To Our School of Dentistry Community;

As most of you know, President Trump issued an executive order barring entry into the U.S. of any travelers from seven majority-Muslim countries, including immigrants, non-immigrant visa holders, and possibly lawful U.S. permanent residents.

The UCLA School of Dentistry stands firmly behind the statements recently issued by UCLA Chancellor Gene Block and EVC and Provost Scott Waugh and U.C. President Janet Napolitano, in that we encourage the free exchange of knowledge and welcome the best students and scholars from all backgrounds and nationalities.

It is our goal to make sure that our community has the proper resources to navigate this rapidly changing landscape.

  • For any DDS students, PPID students, residents, ACT trainees, and preceptors, who have questions or concerns about the President’s executive order, we ask that you please contact the dental school’s Office of Student and Alumni Affairs at (310) 825-9789.

  • For faculty, please contact the dental school’s Office of Academic Personnel at  (310) 825-9311.

  • For staff, please contact the dental school’s Office of Staff Human Resources at (310) 825-5636.

There will be a UCLA community forum to discuss these issues this Thursday, February 2, at 6 p.m., at the UCLA School of Law, under the CrossCheck Live platformPlease look for communications from Dr. Edmond Hewlett, associate dean for diversity and outreach, on additional details.

We will continue to urge our leaders to find a balance between public safety and freedom.

Sincerely,

Paul H. Krebsbach, DDS, PhD
Dean and Professor
