SAFETY NOTICE TO PATIENTS AND VISITORS AFTER THE APRIL 14, 2015 FIRE

This is to notify all patients and visitors of the UCLA School of Dentistry that there was a fire in third floor of the building on April 14, 2015. UCLA Facilities and the UCLA Office of Environment, Health & Safety (EH&S) evaluated the building structure and indoor air quality in all floors of the School of Dentistry. Both UCLA Facilities and EH&S determined that the building structure and breathing air were safe according to all regulatory guidelines and standards. The breathing air parameters evaluated included carbon monoxide, hydrogen sulfide, mercury and asbestos. The building is therefore completely safe for regular operations, including patient care. The smell of smoke that persists in the circulating air of the third floor and other areas of the School of Dentistry building is NOT related to air quality and safety; as stated above, rest assured that the breathable air in the School of Dentistry is safe.
