Dr. Hung Ton-That, was appointed as a professor in the Section of Oral Biology, effective July 1, 2018. We are honored to have such a distinguished researcher, innovator, and leader join our faculty.

Dr. Ton-That is a well-established, leading scientist in the field of microbial pathogenesis. He comes to us from the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at the University of Texas McGovern Medical School where he was recognized in 2013 with the Dean’s Teaching Excellence Award. At McGovern, he taught courses for graduate and medical students and directed a laboratory-based course in fluorescence and electron microscopy.

Dr. Ton-That currently has three R01 grants and is a co-investigator on two more R01 grants. His most recent NIH grant is going into its third cycle (years 10-15). His peer-reviewed publication list is also impressive with nearly all of his papers published in very rigorous journals in his field. The list of his publications can be found on PubMed.
