"New" Clinic and Academic Building Lobbies

After several months of construction dust, the School of Dentistry completed a major renovation of the clinic and academic building lobbies this past May.

Upgrades to the clinic lobby include, new American Disability Act (ADA) entry doors, new glass doors throughout, new cashier windows with ADA compliant counters, new ceilings, new energy efficient lighting, a new waiting area with modern furniture, and all new wallcoverings and structural pillars.

The patient registration area now highlights the wall sculpture, which is considered historic artwork. New signage will be completed soon.

Upgrading Our Software

The UCLA Dental Clinics, including the pre-doctoral general clinic and the specialty clinics recently got an upgrade in the way they provide patient care and manage patient information. Over the past year or so, administrative and information technology staff have been working behind the scenes to transition the School’s former clinic information management system, GSD, to axiUm – a mainstream, robust clinic information and patient care management software that will greatly enhance clinic operations.

axiUm went live on June 27, and all faculty, pre-doctoral students, postgraduate trainees, and clinic staff will have access to the new system by Tuesday, July 5.

Dr. Paulo Camargo, Associate Dean for Clinical Dental Sciences, would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their assistance and participation in the go-live activities. There will certainly be a learning curve associated with the new operating system, but the end result will be an integrated, streamlined system that is expected to alleviate redundancies, eliminate paper patient records, and improve patient care in our clinics.

Patient Praise

Before she graduated, Dr. Angela Tsu, Class of 2016, along with many other students, were praised by a patient for their “care and the complete attention to detail.” The patient goes on to say that Angela is “an amazing dentist” and that they will miss her managing their care.

Congratulations to newly minted D.D.S. graduate, Dr. Tsu on her patient’s praise and thank you to Dr. Chris Biddle, Group Practice Director, on working so well with the dental students.
