Sharing Dinner and Memories

Thank you to all the alumni who hosted our pre-doctoral students at their homes and practices for the 2018 annual Dinner for 12 Dental Students this month. UCLA Dentistry alumni were thrilled to provide guidance and insight on the profession, while sharing memories of their dental school years. Students appreciated the opportunity to interact with dentists and specialists who have been through the same journey, as well as the warm welcome from the alumni community.

If you are interested in volunteering for this event in a future cycle and giving back to UCLA, please visit Ways to Get Involved.

New Venue = New Faces: 2018 Alumni Day Recap

Over 400 alumni and friends joined UCLA Dentistry at the 2018 CDA Anaheim Reunion on Friday, May 18, held this year at The Fifth Rooftop Restaurant and Bar. The change in venue brought along with it a sunset view of the city and a front-row seat for the magnificent Disney fireworks.

In addition to our alums, many students and faculty were present, drawing a new level of engagement within the UCLA Dentistry community. The CDA Anaheim reception featured our first ever 50th year anniversary for the dental school's first graduating class, Class of 1968, and we also recognized alums from 1973, 1978, 1983, 1988, 1993, 2003, 2008, and 2013 with slideshows of photos from their days as dental students.

Thank you to our sponsors, Henry Schein and XDR Radiology. We hope to welcome back even more alumni at our upcoming CDA San Francisco Reunion on Friday, Sept. 7, at the InterContinental San Francisco.

Pediatric Dentistry Hosts Annual Alumni Day

Thank you to all those who attended the UCLA Pediatric Dentistry Alumni Day on Saturday, July 14, at the Luskin Center. Attendees enjoyed presentations from Dr. Mark Cannon, professor at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine and alumnus Dr. Janet Schrodi, pediatric dentistry Class of 2003.

Dr. Daniela Silva, associate professor and chair of pediatric dentistry, introduced the launch of the clinic renovation campaign to much enthusiasm. Dr. Donald Duperon, recalled professor of pediatric dentistry, was given a standing ovation when Dr. Oariona Lowe, Co-Chair for the Pediatrics Renovation Campaign, announced she would be naming the Clinic Lounge in his honor and invited others to join her.

Thank you to current residents Nicole LaMantia and Ryan Price for taking photos at the event.
