The UCLA School of Dentistry had a strong, hard-working, and enthusiastic contingent of students at the most recent CDA Cares event that was held in Anaheim at the beginning of May. CDA Cares brings together volunteer dentists, and those working towards their degrees, who with the assistance of other dental professionals, provide dental services at no charge to an average of nearly 2,000 people at each event.

A huge thank you to all those UCLA Dentistry students and faculty for your participation in and support of CDA Cares Anaheim. The Bruin Dental family is proud of the continued commitment everyone shows to providing care for all California residents.

Special thanks to Dean Krebsbach for providing funding for transportation, to Dr. Hewlett for acting as a faculty advisor, and to Ms. Anna Guzman for managing the logistical challenges of this event.

Mark your calendars for the next CDA Cares in Modesto. For more details on volunteering at that event.

New computers in student lounge, made possible by Apollonian Society

Four new computers with the most up-to-date technology were recently purchased for the UCLA Dentistry student lounge, replacing old equipment. The purchase of the new computers was made possible by funds from the Apollonian Society, a fund established to enhance the student experience.

Since 2004, when the Apollonian annual fund was transformed into the membership-based Apollonian Society, more than $3.5 million has been dedicated to benefit for dental students,  including a White Coat Ceremony for incoming first years, a patient care fund to ensure students can complete the procedures needed to graduate, the purchase of equipment, annual events, and more.

We thank members of the Apollonian Society – alumni, faculty members, residency program graduates, professional colleagues and others – for their continued and generous support of UCLA Dentistry and our students.
