When Research and Art Intersect

Dr. Dan Pan, orthodontics resident with the Class of 2020, won an art award from the American Society for Gravitational and Spare Research Society for his illustration, titled: “The Return of Life.” The work is based on the Rodent Research-5 Project, which is the first study in U.S. history on drug-treated mice returning from space.

Supporting Advancements in the Early Detection of Cancer

Ronnie Dio Charity Event

Dr. David Wong’s lab was the recipient of a $61,000 donation from the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund. The fund puts on the annual Ronnie James Dio Charity Event – a bowling event that was established to honor the memory of late singer Ronnie James Dio, who passed away from stomach cancer in 2010. This year’s sold out event took place on October 25, at Pinz Bowling Center in Studio City and special guests included Jack Black, Tom Morello, and other well-known musicians. In total, the Fund has donated more than $125,000 to support Dr. Wong’s research on early cancer intervention which uses non-invasive saliva testing.
