Bringing Generations Together

Over the summer, 16 UCLA Dentistry alumni hosts and co-hosts welcomed 90 dental students at nine different “Dinner for 12 Dental Students” events. The hosted dinners provide an opportunity for the student dentists to meet and network with practicing dentists in a casual, welcoming setting. Alumni generously provide dinner and valuable knowledge about the profession to groups of 10-12 students who, in turn, represent the UCLA School of Dentistry and update the alumni on happenings at the school.

Dinner for 12 Dental Students

The purpose of the program is for our alumni to share meaningful experiences with our newest generation of student dentists. Through these dinners the students are able to have personal conversations with alumni and they are able to hear various perspectives from multiple mentors.

Thank you to the following alumni who hosted our students at this year's events: Dr. Steve Stanley '85, Dr. Miles Madison '89, Dr. Melanie Gullett '83 together with husband, Dr. George Maranon '83, Dr. Laurene Duke '84, Dr. Sharon Phamduong '04, Dr. Audrey Yoon '04, Dr. David Lester '89, Dr. Enoch Kim '06 together with wife, Dr. Kaitlyn Kim '06, Dr. Elliot Schlang '74, and Dr. Michele Frawley '06.

Delta Dental Recognizes Leadership

Congratulations to Dr. Nicole Lee, recent alumnus from the Class of 2019, who was one of only 29 dental school students that received the 2019 Student Leadership Award from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation. The award came with a $10,000 monetary award.

Dr. Lee is currently in her residency for oral and maxillofacial surgery at UCSF. While at UCLA, she was a vice president of her class and participated in the Dean’s Leadership Institute. In addition, she was the editor-in-chief of two student publications, The Explorer and The Diastema.
