Patient Care

For those individuals who do not have dental insurance, accessing proper dental care is a major challenge and many simply don’t see a dentist for years. Systemic health is tied to oral health and many times dentists are able to identify larger health issues at regular check-ups.

To make matters worse, as a result of the economic crisis and the reduction of coverage for patients covered by the Adult Denti-Cal program, over 3 million Californians have reduced dental coverage for oral health care and treatment. Although such services can be costly, the Wilson-Jennings-Bloomfield UCLA Venice Dental Center (VDC) is committed to providing specialty services at reduced fees for low-income individuals and families. Even so, there are still patients who are unable to cover their own treatment.

The VDC has been a major provider of quality dental care to the indigent population of Los Angeles for decades, providing care to elderly, homeless, and children, whose needs are great and resources limited. However, the demand has increased substantially in recent years and the VDC simply cannot meet the large number of people who need care.

Patient care funds for these indigent populations, as well as upgrades to infrastructure to meet the rising demand will be needed in the near future. With a gift to our patient care fund, you are improving the oral and general health of the community.
