Eric Sung Selected for Distinguished Teaching Award

Eric SungDr. Eric Sung, a professor of clinical dentistry and chair of the Section of Special Patient Care, was selected by the Academic Senate Committee on Teaching to receive the Distinguished Teaching Award for Senate Faculty.

Dr. Sung is one of only six faculty members across the entire UCLA campus to be honored with this special distinction. The Distinguished Teaching Award is a testament to Dr. Sung’s accomplishments as a teacher and scholar. He will be recognized at the annual “Andrea L. Rich Night to Honor Teaching” ceremony in the Fall quarter.

Dr. Sung, UCLA D.D.S. class of 1990 and UCLA General Practice and Hospital Dentistry residency class of 1992, is the inaugural holder of the United Cerebral Palsy of Los Angeles Endowed Chair in Special Patient Care. He is considered the preeminent expert on treating complex cases in the greater Los Angeles area. He also serves as the vice chair for the Division of Advanced Prosthodontics.

This is an extraordinary honor for both Dr. Sung and the School of Dentistry, and special recognition to Dr. Ben Wu, Dr. Ronald Mito, and Ms. Vicki Sandoval for working on the nomination package.
