School Thanks Dr. Susan Fredericks and Welcomes Dr. Morris Budak

After three years of service, Dr. Susan Fredericks will be stepping down as Apollonian Society Co-Chair. During her tenure, she brought energy and enthusiasm to the position, and we remain grateful for her commitment to the School.

Stepping in to serve alongside Dr. Ronald Mito, the School welcomes our first-ever Apollonian Society Co-Chair for Northern California, Dr. Morris “Mo” Budak, Class of 1974. In this role, Dr. Budak will work to establish a stronger alumni presence in Northern California for Bruins who are looking to reconnect with the School and learn how to support the next generation of student dentists.

Since graduating from the UCLA School of Dentistry in 1974, Dr. Budak moved back to Northern California where he set about his professional career practicing esthetic and restorative dentistry in Sunnyvale. For over ten years, he served as the president of the Northern California Academy of Dental Research, study club of over fifty dentists who met monthly during the academic year. Dr. Budak was also instrumental in establishing an Alpha Omega Dental Fraternity chapter in San Jose.

In recent years, Dr. Budak has sought out more opportunities to connect with his alma mater closer to home, and reached out to Dean Krebsbach to share his enthusiasm and willingness to spark the change.

Dr. Budak will lead the Apollonian Society with Dr. Ronald Mito, who has served as Co-Chair since 2004. Dr. Mito shared, “The role of the Apollonian Society Chair is to provide a vital link between the School and community, encouraging alumni and friends to support the Apollonian Society.” The School welcomes Dr. Budak in this role and will certainly benefit from his leadership in Northern California.

Join Dr. Budak on Friday, August 25th at 5pm for the UCLA School of Dentistry’s alumni event in conjunction with the San Francisco CDA.
