What is Office 365?

      • Office 365 is a subscription plan from Microsoft that include access to Office applications plus other productivity services that are enabled over the Internet or better known as cloud services. You can access the cloud services using https://portal.office.com

What is the advantage of Office 365?

      • One of the biggest advantages of Office 365 is the ability to work from anywhere as long as you have an internet connection. Because it's entirely cloud-based, you can access your email from any location and any device.  Also, the storage for email has been increased to 50GB for all inboxes.

Will there be any impact on how I work?

      • There will not be any impact to how you currently work. Your Dentistry email address will not change.

How do I log on to the web version of Outlook?

What are the new mailbox quotas?

      • Mailbox quotas are increasing to 50 GB (used to be 500MB to 2GB).

Will there be any impact to my shared mailboxes or calendars that are currently setup on Outlook?

      • There will not be any impact to any shared mailboxes or calendars that are currently set up on Outlook.  All Dentistry related shared mailboxes and calendars are planned to be migrated at the same time.

Will there be any impact to any rules I have configured on Outlook?

      • There will not be any anticipated impact to rules configured on Outlook. However, if you have a lot of email rules, DGIT Support staff would like to work with you to ensure the rules migrate successfully.

How do I export Outlook rules from Outlook 2013/2016?

In Outlook, on the Home tab, click the Rules button on the ribbon then Manage Rules & Alerts.  Click Options.

Export Rules

1.     Click Export Rules.

2.     Select the folder you where you want to file to be saved and under File name type a name for the file. Click Save.

3.     Click OK to close the options screen.

Import Rules

1.     Click Import Rules.

2.     Select the rules file you would like to import. The file should have an .rwz extension. Then click Open.

3.     Click OK to close the Options screen.

If I have the Outlook app installed on my iOS or Android device, will I have to re-install the app?

      • There is a possibility you may need to reconfigure your iOS or Android phone app to access your emails.  Please call the Help Desk if you encounter any problems.   Instructions for configuring your mobile device can also be found in the following How-Tos:

How to Configure O365 On Your Android Device

      • Download the Outlook app from the App Store.
      • Open the Outlook app and Click Get Started.
      • Enter your username.  

      • Note: Username should be entered in the following format: username@ad.ucla.edu. Please contact DGIT Help Desk if you have questions or you do not remember your login credential. 
      • Enter your email password the click Sign In.
      • If you would like to add another account click Continue, otherwise click skip.
      • Click Skip and your outlook will be configured.


How to Configure O365 On Your iOS Device

      • Download the Outlook app from the App Store.
      • Open the Outlook app.
      • On the "Add Account" page, put in your username.   
      • Note: Username should be entered in the following format: username@ad.ucla.edu. Please contact DGIT Help Desk if you have questions or you do not remember your login credential. 
      • You will be directed to the UCLA O365 logon screen. Enter your password, then Click Sign in.

 

You will still be able to login to the Outlook Web App if you need access to your email (https://outlook.com.office365.com).

I have Outlook 2010, do I need to take any additional steps?

      • You will need to upgrade your Outlook to Outlook 2013 or Outlook 2016 prior to the migration.  Please contact the help desk at extension x7-2273 or (310) 267-2273 and they will help upgrade your Outlook.

How to Reset Passwords For O365 in OWA

      • Open any internet browser (Chrome, Firefox, IE, or Safari) and enter https://sharepoint.em.ucla.edu/sites/changepassword in the search bar.
      • To change your password make sure to provide your username and password in the pop-up box. (i.e. username@ad.ucla.edu + mail password)
      • Note: Username should be entered in the following format: username@ad.ucla.edu. If you need assistance, please contact the DGIT Help Desk.
      • After providing the necessary information (put your username only in the Account box without the @ad.ucla.edu) and click Change Password. After you have changed your password, it may take up 15 minutes for the Outlook client on your desktop to prompt to enter my new credentials.

Can I continue to use Outlook during the migration?

      • Email services will still be up and running during the migration, but the migration may cause a brief interruption in receiving new emails.  If you encounter any issues with email after the migration, please contact the help desk at extension x7-2273 or (310) 267-2273.
