An Axis of DiscoveryCenter for Oral/Head & Neck Research

Innovation is one of the core values of UCLA School of Dentistry. Our research faculty, postdoctoral residents, and Masters and PhD candidates are working in our laboratories and research centers to identify problems and seek solutions to improve the oral and systemic health of people throughout the world.

As leaders in dental and oral health research, our work has great impact and even bigger implications. In addition to exposing the next generation of dentists, scientists, teachers, and leaders to the exciting world of academic research, we are helping to improve oral and systemic health. Discoveries and breakthroughs made in our laboratories and research centers are translated into clinical applications that have the potential not only to benefit local communities, but to improve health around the globe.

At our new state-of-the-art Center for Oral/Head and Neck Oncology Research (COOR), we are conducting high impact research on oral cancer therapies, nanomedicine solutions, and salivary diagnostics every day. COOR acts as an axis for innovative collaborations with other dental schools from around the world, and also other areas of study from the UCLA campus, creating an interdisciplinary hub for cutting-edge research.

Support for research by alumni, industry, foundations, and friends provides new avenues and opportunities for discovery that lead to advanced technology and medical innovations. Researchers at the School of Dentistry are not simply adapting what has been done before; they are creating new areas of study that hold the promise of radical breakthroughs that will better our world.
